Changing Google Chrome language
Written by: adekun on 3 September, 2008 9:41 am - Filed under: blog
Google have just launched a beta version of their browser Chrome. I’m keen to try it out despite being a big fan of Firefox.
Upon install the language is selected automatically from a big pool. Those like myself living overseas and being illiterate in the native speak may want to take the following steps:
- Click on the wrench in the top right corner
- Select the sixth option called Options
- Chose the second tab called Minor Tweaks
- Click on the button in the last block
- Chose the second tab labelled languages
- The first dropdown at the bottom allows you to change the browser language, the second is the spell checker
- Click OK, close the dialog box and restart the browser

Enjoy.

Thank you for the comments. I was beginning to wonder if this was of any help given the number of visitors against comments…

I found it amusing when I searched for an answer for the above; go to Options…
I’ve been here long enough to know I have a lot of work to do on polishing the nihongo skills. Just passed the two and a half year mark. Like the idea of Okinawa, but unsure about the work situation not being an American in the forces.

Didn’t work. I have the Chinese version, maybe it’s different? Who knows… (and yes, I’ve followed the steps five or six times exactly, but still no change)

Perhaps it is different. Having installed it recently here on a new machine it was set to English by default. The only thing I can suggest is step nine which is to close the browser before restarting. Sorry I can’t offer anything beyond that.
