Dry March

Written by: adekun on 23 March, 2007 8:41 am - Filed under: blog ?

A quick snap of the garden before the light disappears. Not much change from the beginning of the month, aside from the weeds – most of which were added to the compost bin the other day. The garlic is looking hopeful, if a little yellow. In place of rain, dust clouds from China have been wafting over.

It’s been pretty dry here too and looks to grow even dryer for at least the next several months.

    Mulch is our friend.

Looking good - if sadly bereft of weeds!

I am worried at the prospect of returning after our extended Europe trip to find the garden either as scrub or overwhelmed by Triffids.
It would be good to get familiar with Mulch. It seemed to be a buzzword on Garden’s World a long time ago, perhaps for that reason I didn’t take that much notice.
I had moulded some scrapings from the compost bin around the garlic and on top of the asparagus. It was squidgy, fibrous and black until it dried out, but what little there is comes good with a little rain.
