adekun’s japan blog

Enjoying the sights, sounds and smells of first-time parenthood. Progress on the organic vegetable garden and other ramblings of a gaijin in Japan’s least populous prefecture.

I don’t usually feel the urge to advertise Coca Cola’s products. Tea is clearly popular here in Japan and just as in any other country, the company produces it’s localised range of drinks. What is attractive about this bottle of tea is the number of seemingly natural ingredients.

Karada meguri cha

  • puer (a Chinese tea)
  • reishi (mushroom)
  • ryokucha (a Japanese green tea)
  • kicha (a Japanese tea)
  • kuko
  • korai ninjin
    (Chinese ginseng)*
  • dokudami
  • oolong
  • orange peel
  • kumazasa
  • hasu

It doesn’t taste too bad either, though I’d probably best stick to the beer.
*Thank you Dave.

I just found your blog at Garden Voices and I will be revisiting. I spent 2 weeks in Japan a couple of years ago and absolutely loved it. Everyone was so kind and gracious and beautiful. I loved the food, the drinks, the culture. I would love to see some pics of canned coffee -I sure miss it!
One thing that amazed me was how similar the plantings were to what I have here-many of the same plants. It helped me when I got home to feel as if I were still there.

Once it warms up, I’ll snap some vending machines. I’m surprised the canned coffee thing isn’t global. I did see some machines in New Zealand.
I’m currently working on a veg calender. I’ll knock a post out once I get it reasonably finished.

not a bad advert for Coca-cola product…but “korai ninjin” is not a carrot but actually Chinese ginseng
