Sore shoulder

My shoulder is hurting again. It could be the arrival of cold weather. More than likely, it is because I should give it a rest. Since my slight stretching mishap, it hasn’t felt good. Certainly has felt weak. The knock-on effect being chesty lopsidedness.
Anyway, mentioning the ache to the owner, he immediately started to squeeze my upper arm. I thought he was going to crush it. Yet, a repeat of the action the other side only hurt. He said the muscle was hard and called his wife. Instructed to lie on my back, she gave me a massage. Instead of pummelling, it involved a cutting action on the inside of my arm with her edge of her foot, for five minutes. Half way though, there was a healthy amount of blood under the surface of the skin. It was sore by the end of the kneading, but no leaks. It really helped in the short term. If only I could convince the OH to tend.

Just started reading your blog. Very interesting.
Strange that I ran into your shoulder injury posts. I started lifting in the gym again last October after a long break of 10 years.
I think you have a rotary cuff injury which is quite common when you start to lift weights again. Try some front deltoid raises and side lateral raises with dumbbells on chest days. Use light weight. When the rotary cuff starts to get stronger, you can lift normal again.
Best of luck.

Yeah quite likely, although trying not avoid admitting it (which is more the problem).
Doesn’t seem too bad but isn’t right. Some things are difficult. I can’t push the heavy winter duvet off with that arm. Despite the exercises you mentioned being my least favourite, I’ll make sure to try as you suggest. I’m not getting the post workout attention I deserve.

Hi, how has the exercise gone. My rotator cuffs pain have disappeared. I now just do the incline press once a week after I found most of my pain started after I finished that exercise.

Good to hear it sorted itself out. I’ve haven’t really gone to the gym the past couple of weeks. The kids were ill and then got a cold the following week. It’s been hard since New Year’s… I did go yesterday and gave it some. I can feel it everywhere, but no shoulder pain. Hopefully, once it brightens up, I’ll get in there more regularly.

Good to hear. It is always hot and sunny in Saigon. My problem is that I have to worry about dehydration more these days. No aircon at my gym.
I hope you kids get better.
By the way, I recommend you add this plugin to your Wordpress blog:

I think I might get a better night sleep, most of the coughing has passed.
Have a similar problem with the heat; the gym is heated like a Japanese department store.
