Varicocele

For some time, I’ve been thinking about how my diet and lifestyle mirror each other. It’s not that both are particularly unhealthy; more that they could be bettered in some areas. I squander too much time. Does a Japanese diet provide the best nourishment for a Westerner (at least, it doesn’t feel it mentally). And so on.
Adding to my general malaise is a growing trouble downstairs. I saw a urologist a week ago and was told that I have a varicocele, a varicose vein in a sensitive area. It was expected, nevertheless a relief. The condition isn’t as uncommon as I thought, yet there isn’t firm reason to the cause. Even though the doctor was unhurried, he didn’t offer up any suggestions to alleviate the pain. Put up with it or open surgery (in this district). Recently, the continuous dull ache develops far beyond uncomfortable. Sitting or standing for a length of time becomes an awkward and fidgety chore. It’s as if it’s some sort of warped payback for years of laughing at Nobby’s Piles.
Changing my diet and habits are unlikely to have an effect on my ailment. Yet it is a worthwhile pursuit. I should use this setback to spur me into becoming a doer, albeit a John Wayne swagger.

Ouch! I’m sorry to hear about your condition. I’m curious how it relates to diet. Was a change in diet suggested as a way to alleviate the symptoms? Do you think your current diet is responsible for the condition?

Unfortunately, the only way that I am aware of to get rid of a varicose vein is via a needle. If you have a varicose vein in your leg, you could help it by wearing a thick, support, stocking.. However, I don’t think that will help you unless you can find thick, lycra, underpants.

All the best to you for a speedy recovery!

Thank you Denise for the well wishes. Unfortunately the doctor did not cough up any suggestions whatsoever. I guess it’s more genetic disposition than diet. In any case, looking into the latter isn’t going to be a wasted exercise. It might be expensive; whoever penned the proverb an apple a day obviously wasn’t Japanese.
The underwear turns out to be more a double edged sword. I thought support garments were for gravity affected women.
