Beer Review Archives

Join me on my tireless crusade to find a decent brew in Japan. That said, this has largely been canned beers from the big four.

See little point in doing a composite score given the talent. Scoring against native beers, an eight point English beer would be in a different league. Prices given were that at the time of review.

This should be different to Orion’s Orion Draft. I hope so, it doesn’t taste any different to Super Dry. :(

Deep and rich taste from non-filtered process

This made a nice change from the regular brews, it certainly is better. Another expensive premium brew in a bottle.

In every spirit & every season everywhere

Brewer Kirin

A bland bottle of pale lager. Made from 100% malt, it has little aroma despite the 100% aroma hops - rather surprising in Japan.

YONA YONA means EVERY NIGHT! YONA YONA ALE is exactly the beer you can enjoy Every night! Why don’t you try it in NAGANO?

Brewer Yoho Brewing

Style European Pale Lager

The only reason I can’t enjoy it everynight is the price. Nice citrusy, grapefruit like. Surprised to find this in Lawson. Brewed in Karuizawa, Nagano.

The flavor of frozen hop

Brewer Kirin

Reading Sparkling Hop conjured up thoughts of a gassy bitter brew - as far from beer it is. It’s neither and not too bad given the price.

Just taste “Ichibanshibori Stout.” The first wort gives a marvelously deep taste. The aroma of roasted malt and smooth creamy foam enrich your precious time.

Brewer Kirin

Style Other

No match for Guinness Foreign Export or even the Original. Still, it’s very drinkable if you forget the price.

The richer flavor of this 100% malt beer is ideal for the brisk fall season. Sapporo’s collaborative contract farming system assures high quality barley.

Brewer Sapporo

Style European Pale Lager

Season’s Special Beer. This hasn’t been spolit with over bitterness. Good taste and aroma.
