Situated on the northern tip of the Yumigahama Peninsula. Sakaiminato is major port both for shipping and fishing.

Here are two of the hundred or so bronze statues that line the Mizuki Shigeru road. Here Kitaro is holding his father’s eyeball which is usually kept in his obscured eyesocket.

A great place to get away from bustle of the city. Plenty to do in and around the town. As yet to walk to the top, hopefully I will soon.
Mount Daisen is very popular place to ski. Perhaps this winter I will make my skiing debut? Famous for diary products and it’s chicken there is also a brewery.

The name means rice child. There is a big festival called Gainamatsuri at end of July.
Below are some photos taken in April from the remains of the Castle. Sakura trees are in the foreground.


Famous for it’s onsens and triathlon (held in July). Kaike Town has at least fifty inns/hotels, many of which overlook the beach.
The building of this medieval castle was overseen by Yoshiharu Horio and completed in 1611. Below is a photo of the keep.

Most ancient and important Shinto shrine in Japan. Rebuilt in the thirteenth century having been damaged by several fires.
