Another early garlic harvest

Not particuly swell garlic.

Not particularly swell, but more than ample.

Not wanting to take a gamble on the weather, the garlic got pulled yesterday. The end of the month would have been better, especially for the larger, apple sized Aomori. Still, rust set in at the start and can’t expect the heads to miraculously swell. The Elephant garlic didn’t come to anything. :(

Hi Adekun, I’ve never planted garlic before until just last week. Because I live in a small apartment in Tokyo, I don’t have a garden so I have planted my clove in a pot, will it grow? I’m worried about it now that the rainy season has started. You also talked about rust, is that because the soil is too wet from rain? If you could give me some tips, I would really appreciate it. Thank you

I reckon you stand a good chance of getting some garlic. More so if you get a couple going…
There are plenty of people container growing, some of whom have some great info. Hopefully, in a week or so you will be seeing a green shoot.
