Crows

I thought back in the spring there were quite a few more birds to be spotted in the garden. In addition to an increase in numbers, the range in sizes is up. There have been many pigeons hopping about and more recently crows. It hasn’t taken very long for a few of these diligent darker feathered pests to dismember all of the sweet corn. I was somewhat astonished to find stems and remnants of husked cobs scattered over the ground. Quite astute undertaking as I was just about to harvest them.

First year I planted corn I had the same thing happen to me….. net is the best way. They take cucumbers, zuccini,…. all kinds of stuff.

Perhaps I should think myself lucky…
There are some 18m nets in the nearest shop. I think I’m going to see if they return. Funny thing is, over the well a couple of feet away, the neighbour has loads growing and they seem to have ignored it.

Not sure exactly where you live, but where I am we have to keep monkeys, badgers, wild boars, and crows out of the garden

That somehow seems more agreeable than in the middle of a city. It was yet another surprise to me when I got here to watch the swarms of wild monkeys and to hear of the roaming bears.
Aside from the birds, I’ve only got to watch the bugs and my own monkey.
